First day and a flat tire

On Division Avenue, across the street from Vertigo Music, on a metal rooster. I went to Scavenger Hunt for some American Apparel and and Vertigo for a Tom Waits CD. The front tire is flat. Wealthy Street is a cruel mistress. Although a vital part of my route to Eastown, it's got a ton of potholes.

On a telephone pole, outside Common Grounds Coffee House. The owner of Scavenger Hunt told me there was a bike shop out here so I walked my bike all the way, while listening to Friday's Democracy Now! podcast. There turned out to be no such bike shop, but at least I got to check out a new coffee place.

On the patio outside Founder's Brewing Co. I walked my bike over for a growler. That was about mile 15 on the bike-walkathon. Today I had my Founder's bike jersey on, but I wasn't welcomed by the hand claps and fanfare I thought I would get.

Downtown Grand Rapids, on a chair, at Rosa Parks Circle. This was the last stop of the day before I would get a ride home in my mom's van. No bike shop was found, no flat tire was replaced. For the first day of this project, it's kind of unfortunate that I would get a flat tire, but I'm still ahead of the game when it comes to being responsible for my own travels, right?
